January 26, 2021

This post is an in depth Tulum Travel Guide that provides tips on what to do and where to stay!

Tulum Weather

I traveled to Tulum with my best friend at the end of November. This is considered “the end” of the rainy season there which promises few showers on and off and mostly sunny days. We learned from a few locals that the past few seasons they have been experiencing a longer rainy season than usual, which is what we experienced for sure. However, we did get a few sunny days towards the end which was nice! Below is a general guide on what you can expect traveling per season in Tulum!

  • Summer ( June – Aug ) – Average temp 84. Considered the heart of rainy and hurricane season.
  • Fall ( September – November ) – Average temp 79. End of rainy seasons but still possible.
  • Winter ( December – Feb ) – Average temp 75. Mostly sunny days and cools off in the evenings.
  • Spring ( March-May ) – Average temp 82. Mostly sunny days, larger crowds.

Where To Stay In Tulum

Nomade – The first place we stayed was seriously the most beautiful and tranquil place I have ever been. You are completely immersed in the jungle and everything from the accommodations to the wellness activities and food is over the top amazing!

Papaya Playa – We didn’t love this as much as Nomade but I think if you’re looking for a spot with more nightlife and a unique party scene this is your spot.

Coco Tulum – We ate at a restaurant on the grounds here and it was beautiful! A very coastal boho boutique hotel vibe.

Be Tulum – One of Nomade’s sister hotels so I already know it is amazing!

Azulik – Very pricey to stay here! We ate dinner here one night and although the food wasn’t as great as we hoped, the architecture of the hotel is amazing, it’s basically a giant treehouse!

HOT TIP – Book your travel from the airport to your hotel before you come! Hotel transfers can be pricey so we decided to go with E-transfers and it was a seamless experience!

There are SO many beautiful places to stay in Tulum – If you search via the Instagram geo tag its a great way to find a stay that fits you best!

Where To Eat In Tulum

Okay if you love healthy wholesome food – you are in for a treat! We ate some of the best food ever in Tulum and I miss it everyday.

  • Raw Love Cafe – The BEST acacia bowls. So fresh and their presentation is absolutely insane. It is also a little Tikki hut on the beach which is fun.
  • Nomade beach Restaurant – I need to put this in here because you have to go – even if you’re not staying there, go and order the salmon! We specifically went back here our last night to get the salmon. Also the passionfruit Margherita is life-changing.
  • Matcha Mama – The cutest little smoothie bowl place located on the main road in town. These were just as good as Raw Love and they had fun swings to sit in too.
  • Real Coconut Kitchen – Such a great lunch or dinner spot with a menu full of great vegan goodies!
  • Gitano – The ambiance of this place is unreal and the food is delicious. Don’t skip out on the churros for dessert!

  • Gran Cenote – The most stunning blue water you have ever seen. Swimming in the cenotes is a magical experience, to say the least! This is a must-do on your visit to Tulum. There are 100s of cenotes to choose from.
  • Ven A La Luz – The famous Daniel Popper art sculpture you see when you search Tulum on Instagram. It’s beautiful and worth seeing, be prepared to wait in line if you want a photo in front!
  • Mayan Ruins – The Yucatan Peninsula is home to some of the most impressive ruins. You can easily see them by taking a taxi or even biking!
  • Casa Malca – Pablo Escobar’s mansion in Tulum which they have now turned into a boutique hotel and restaurant.
