I would argue Grand Teton National Park is up there as one of the most beautiful national parks in the U.S. If you have been you are familiar with the breathtaking views and if this is your first time traveling there I have no doubt you will love it!
If 2020 has taught us anything it’s that nature is the best medicine and it is what we need in hard times to feel grounded. Since travel is limited for all of us, a road trip is a great way to feed your travel bug! We tried out van life on this trip and I highly suggest it as a great way to check out the Tetons!

Grand Teton National Park Weather
The weather app for Wyoming in summer will read something like 88 degrees during the day and 40 degrees at night. Crazy! This actually a really great climate for camping because you don’t wake up sweating from humidity. I would say the key is to pack layers, tank tops, and light jackets and bring some long pants/sweats/leggings and you will be fine. Once the sun goes down or behind the clouds you get chilly but when it’s out it is strong so do not forget your sunscreen.
What To Do In Grand Teton National Park.
Grand Teton National Park – If you have 3 full days in the national park, I would suggest trying to fit in the below!
- String Lake – The water is the most insanely gorgeous turquoise color. Most people go to Jenny Lake but this is the smaller lake right next to Jenny lake which I thought was 100x better! You may have to wait for a little to park but once you get down to the lake you can find your own spot along the perimeter and set up your spot for the day. HOT TIP – Rent a paddleboard and get there early to do so, we didn’t get there in time but really wish we had one!
- Taggart Lake Trailhead – Such a beautiful hike, in total only three miles and relatively flat so it is great for all skill levels. We went at around 4 pm and it was the perfect time to avoid crowds.
- Delta Lake – This hike is not for the faint of heart and is pretty challenging but the glacial view at the top makes it all worth it!
- Watch The Sunset on The Tetons – You can pretty much see this no matter where you are but make sure to catch it while you’re there it is just amazing.
- T.A Moulton Barn – Built in the early 1900s this barn gives you some serious little house on the prairie vibes. It’s really cool to see a piece of history still standing and to wonder what it must have been like to live there all that time ago on such a beautiful piece of land.
Grand Teton National Park Camping
- KUKU Campers – This is the company we rented our home on wheels from. The process was super easy for pick up and drop off in Denver, CO. The essentials are included like plates, a camping stove, a cooler, lights in the van at night to see, and a little 5-gallon water jug. They offer basic options as well as upgraded versions if you prefer a more glamping experience.
- KOA Campsites – Nice campgrounds, clean bathrooms, and hot showers! You need a reservation so make sure to call or reserve before you go!
- Gros Ventre Campground – This is the campground we stayed at our entire stay in the Tetons. It is first come first serve so get there early! There are around 300 sites so your chances of getting a spot are pretty good!

Jackson Hole Wyoming
Jackson Hole is about 30 minutes from Grand Teton National Park and is 100% worth the trip! Its a charming old western town with lots of great food options and shops.
- Healthy Being Cafe & Juicery – This place was so fresh and delicious. We came twice it was that good, you can not go wrong with anything on the menu. They are also dog friendly so expect to see a lot of cuties while you eat.
- Persephone Bakery – Also delicious and has both healthy and not so healthy options. The atmosphere is really pretty, you sit in a little garden to eat.
- Million Dollar Cowboy Bar – Be sure to get a whiskey drink and sip it in the saddle bar seats at this old Jackson watering hole!
